Liam hummed along to the radio, expertly navigating the winding mountain road. The top was down on his vintage convertible, and the wind whipped through his hair, carrying the scent of pine and fresh earth. A sense of uncomplicated delight filled him. He was finally on his way to his cabin after a long week. He’d worked hard, and now he was getting the reward.

His phone buzzed. It was a message from the hospital. Liam frowned, then pulled over to read it. "Urgent: Please contact the hospital regarding your medical records. Patient Confidentiality department." His shoulders slumped slightly. The cabin could wait.

Upon calling the hospital, a somber-sounding woman on the other end delivered the news: "Mr. Henderson, we've discovered a serious error. Your file was inadvertently cross-referenced with another patient." The sun felt less warm now. Liam felt a chill.
